This paper describes the baseband system level
design, simulation and implementation of an OFDM
(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)
transceiver. The purpose is a pedagogical approach to
such complicated issues, using state of the art design
tools. The simulation was made using MATLABSIMULINK
integrating modern Digital Signal Processing
techniques. The implementation is done using the
TMS320C6713 DSK development kit from SPECTRUM
DIGITAL INC. and TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC. The
model development is parameterized in such a way to
easily study and correlate the results for either
educational or research purposes. Based on that, the
model consists of a combination of either integrated
software blocks or newly created ones. Furthermore, this
paper will provide the achieved results as a function of
the fundamental parameters of OFDM. Specifically,
quantities such as bandwidth, baud rate, bandwidth
efficiency, are measured as a function of OFDM
parameters such, modulation per subcarrier, OFDM
symbol duration, number of subcarriers, and size of
FFT/IFFT [1][2] etc.
