N. Paganini and S.B. Rachmaninof, famous violinist the former and pianist the latter, had Marfan syndrome. This is an inherited disease of the connective tissue with skeletal, ocular and cardiovascular clinical manifestetions. Confirmation of the diagnosis is made by detecting the mutation of the fibrillin-1 gene.
