Nowadays, more and more patients seek active participation in their treatment and rehabilitation through training programs. A few years ago, we referred to "compliance" or "conformity" to medical instructions. This term was established for "reinforcement" through training. The nurse is now the person that plays the main part of an advisor as opposed to that of an instructor coping with patients with permanent tracheotomy. Through training patients "learn" to define the problems that derive from their lost voice. In the following manner and according to their needs they are enlisted in programs that aim at the restoration.
