heal.abstract	WASA is an intelligent self-assessment agent of WADIES, a web-based learning environment which adapts its material to reflect the needs of the individual learner, whether it is for studying or for testing. WASA offers a rich interaction environment where the students are encouraged to actively construct their own knowledge through self-assessment exercises. WASA s novelty lies on its ability to offer a number of alternative teaching strategies for a given task in respect of a teaching style chosen by the teacher. The presence of alternative teaching strategies means that the student is active, is encouraged to use background knowledge and consider a number of alternative perspectives for the concept under consideration. An authoring agent called AWAIT supports the designing of different teaching strategies as well as the developing of new teaching material.	en
