In this paper, a deep and wide analysis and interpretation of the attitude of the medical community towards information security issues in medical information systems (MIS) is performed. The purpose of this analysis and interpretation was to identify convergent and divergent views on these issues, with an eye towards formulating a proposal for determining access rights which will hopefully attain the widest possible social and scientific approval, thus offering the possibility for developing scientifically sound, socially acceptable, and functionally efficient technical security procedures for MIS.
