heal.abstract	Το παρόν άρθρο αφορά στην ιστορία της ελληνικής Νοσηλευτικής και φιλοδοξεί με τα παρουσιαζόμενα σε αυτό στοιχεία να αποτελέσει ερέθισμα και να χρησιμεύσει στο να βοηθηθούν μελλοντικές μελέτες που θα αφορούν στην ιστορία της Νοσηλευτικής στην Ελλάδα. Η Νοσηλευτική είναι ένα επάγγελμα παροχής φροντίδας. Καθώς όμως η φροντίδα έχει πανανθρώπινη διάσταση, νοσηλευτικές φροντίδες παρέχονταν μέσα στο πλαίσιο της οικογένειας σε όλες τις περιόδους της ιστορίας του ανθρώπινου είδους και συνακόλουθα είναι δύσκολο να προσδιοριστούν ιστορικά και οι απαρχές της Νοσηλευτικής. Εισαγωγικά παρατίθεται μια σύντομη ιστορική ανασκόπηση που αφορά στην παροχή υπηρεσιών φροντίδας υγείας από γυναίκες, ενώ ακολουθούν κεφάλαια που αναφέρονται στην παροχή φροντίδας στην αρχαία Ελλάδα και στο Βυζάντιο. Τέλος, γίνεται αναφορά στην πορεία του νοσηλευτικού επαγγέλματος στο νεοελληνικό κράτος, που ιδρύθηκε μετά την απελευθέρωση της Ελλάδας από τους Οθωμανούς.	el
heal.abstract	A review of the history of nursing profession in Greece is presented and among its objectives is to present useful elements that it can be used for the further study of the nursing history of the country. Nursing is an option of caring and as care has a global dimension it becomes also a global pheno¬menon. Nursing care provided by lay people, especially women, in all the eras of the human history, and therefore it is very difficult to find the exact roots of the nursing profession. A brief histo¬rical review on the caring activities of women as they are referred in the ancient Greek and the Byzantine literature is presented. We believe that this approach will help for the development of a better understanding of the evolution of Nursing as a profession and as a caring science within the Greek culture.
