heal.abstract	Στην εποχή μας, τα άτομα που πάσχουν από κάποια ψυχική νόσο δεν ζουν πλέον αποκλειστικά και μόνο σε μεγάλα και γεωγραφικά απομονωμένα ψυχιατρικά ιδρύματα, αλλά, σε όλο και μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό, σε δομές που λειτουργούν μέσα στην ίδια την κοινότητα. Όμως, παρά το γεγονός ότι η ζωή των ατόμων αυτών μπορεί να είναι φυσιολογική. το στίγμα που σχετίζεται με την ψυχική νόσο υπάρχει και μάλιστα αποτελεί ένα από τα σημαντικότερα προβλήματα, τόσο για τους ίδιους τους ασθενείς, όσο και για τις οικογένειές τους. Διάφορες έρευνες έχουν δείξει πως αρνητικές στάσεις απέναντι στους ψυχικά ασθενείς υπάρχουν όχι μόνο μεταξύ των πολιτών, αλλά και ανάμεσα στους ίδιους τους επαγγελματίες υγείας. Οι αρνητικές αυτές στάσεις και κατ' επέκταση το στίγμα οφείλονται σε διάφορα αίτια, όπως είναι η πεποίθηση ότι οι ψυχικά ασθενείς είναι επικίνδυνοι και η αρνητική εικόνα που προβάλλουν τα Μέσα Μαζικής Ενημέρωσης. Οι συνέπειες είναι τραγικές τόσο για τους ίδιους τους ασθενείς και τις οικογένειες τους. όσο και για το σύστημα υγείας γενικότερα. Οι ασθενείς αντιμετωπίζονται με καχυποψία και έλλειψη εμπιστοσύνης και υφίστανται μεγάλη αδικία σε διάφορους τομείς της δραστηριότητάς τους, ενώ οι οικογένειες έρχονται αντιμέτωπες με την άγνοια, τον φόβο και τις προκαταλήψεις του κοινού. Έτσι, το στίγμα συμβάλλει, σε μεγάλο ποσοστό, στην κοινωνική απομόνωση των ασθενών και επηρεάζει αρνητικά τη θεραπεία τους.	el
heal.abstract	Today, mentally ill persons don't live, anymore, exclusively in grate and geographically isolated psychiatric institutions, but, in an increasing per¬centage, in structures that exist in the community. But, despite the fact that these persons can live nor¬mal life as every other person, stigma related with mental illness exists and consists an important pro¬blem not only for the patients themselves but for their families, too. Varied researches have shown that negative attitudes toward mentally ill persons exist, not only among the public but also between health professionals, them¬selves. These negative attitudes and, of course, stigma are owned to many causes, like the belief that mental patients are dangerous and the negative picture that the Media show and give negative information for the mentally ill. Consequences are tragic not only for the patients and their families, but, generally, for all the medical system. Patients are faced with suspicion and lack of trust and also suffer from great injustice in different sections of their activity, while families are facing ignorance, fear and prejudice from the public. So stigma contributes, in great percentage, to social iso¬lation of mental patients and influences, negatively, their treatment.	en
