heal.abstract	Στην εργασία αυτή μελετάται η αρχιτεκτονική και τα δομικά στοιχεία ενός συστήματος εξατομίκευσης και υποστήριξης εφαρμογών ηλεκτρονικής μάθησης βασιζόμενων στον παγκόσμιο ιστό - Personalized web based E_Learning Applications Support (PELAS) System. Το σύστημα σχεδιάζεται ώστε όχι μόνο να αποθηκεύει πληροφορίες σχετικές με εκπαιδευτικό υλικό αλλά και να εξάγει αυτόματα εκπαιδευτικά νέα και στοιχεία από ακαδημαϊκές βιβλιοθήκες και άλλες επιλεγμένες πηγές του Ιστού. Ένα σύστημα αυτού του τύπου πρέπει να «ενοποιεί» (integrates) όλα τα δεδομένα και να διαχέει εξατομικευμένη πληροφορία στους ενδιαφερόμενους αναγνώστες. Κατα συνέπεια στο σύστημα πρέπει να περιλαμβάνονται ειδικά προγράμματα εξαγωγής περιεχομένου (wrappers) προσαρμοζόμενα στην πηγή (source-specific information extraction programs). Τα προγράμματα αυτά εξάγουν περιγραφικά στοιχεία (highlights of items) από τις ιστοσελίδες των πηγών (sources), τα οργανώνουν σε προκαθορισμένες κατηγορίες (pre-defined categories) και τα παρουσιάζουν στο χρήστη με μία «προσωπική» διεπαφή βασιζόμενη στον Ιστό (personal Web-based interface). Η δυναμική εξατομίκευση (dynamic personalization) μπορεί να βασιστεί στο «ιστορικό ανάγνωσης» του χρήστη (user’s reading history) αλλά και στις προτιμήσεις άλλων αντίστοιχων χρηστών (preferences of other similar users). Τα μοντέλα χρηστών (user models) μπορούν να ενημερώνονται με αλγόριθμους στατιστικής ανάλυσης (statistical analysis) και μηχανικής μάθησης (machine learning algorithms).	el
heal.abstract	This paper presents and discusses the architecture of a Personalized web based E_Learning Applications Support system (PELAS) which integrates educational material along with educational and library news. These derive from multiple Web sources and they are customly disseminated to corresponding users. The proposed service integrates automatic information extraction from a variety of educational and news sources. The information is presented according to user’s interests. The system consists of source-specific information extraction programs (wrappers) that extract highlights of items from various sources. Then, it organizes them according to pre-defined categories and finally it presents them to the user through a personal Web-based interface. Dynamic personalization can be developed based on user’s reading history, as well as on the preferences of other users with similar interests. User models can be maintained by statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms.	en
