heal.abstract | The aim of this paper is to present a methodology for the identification of saccades, namely abrupt rapid small movements of both eyes, using oculomotor data. The proposed methodology involves two steps; the first step identifies and removes artifacts (blinks) from the data and the second step identifies the start and end points of the saccades. The methodology was applied on data acquired from 10 subjects that performed certain eye fixation tasks. For each subject, saccades were identified by the proposed methodology as well as by means of visual inspection of the data. The results from the two methodologies (the proposed one and the visual inspection) were consistent up to 84%. | en |
