heal.abstract | The simulation of Evoked Potentials, which are a special case of EEG recordings, is possible when models are used for describing the underlying brain generators. In the present work an artificial neural network model is presented whose neurons possess the ability to simulate the generation of EEG wave components, related to cognitive brain mechanisms. External signals are processed in a parallel fashion by the neurons, simulating a wide range of wave components, successfully matching laboratory-measured potentials. Dysfunction of the signal processing mechanism of the network are analyzed, producing abnormal waveforms and therefore suggesting biological analogies with pathological brain function. | en |
