Abstract:This paper aims to examine and present the weaknesses of the business application of Timeshare which inhibit, up today, the satisfactory infiltration of the product in the Greek hospitality market. The working hypothesis is that Timeshare has failed to succeed a wide acceptance from the Greek hospitality industry. In order to support it we will, on the one hand, present the data proving its limited infiltration, and on the other, identify the reasons of the latter. In order to clarify the specific operational conditions of Timeshare in Greece, a short S.W.O.T. Analysis has been conducted and presented, while special emphasis has been placed on the analysis of the factors that constitute the main weaknesses and threats of the product. The present paper is documented from international and Greek bibliographic sources on Timeshare, to which is added material drawn from our doctoral thesis entitled "Timeshare and the possibilities of a more effective operational application in Greece". The material in question is the result of studying, processing, and presenting on the one hand elements belonging to the International Models of Application of Timeshare, and on the other the problematic and opinions that emerged from a survey in professionals involved in the Greek Timeshare market.
