heal.abstract | Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a developmental disorder which has an onset in early childhood, is pervasive across situations and persistent over time and causes important impairment at the child's functioning and many difficulties at the child's environment. During the last few years important advance has been made concerning etiology and treatment of ADHD. Nevertheless, knowledge of the disorder is not particularly spread in Greece, which results in insufficient information with regard to the primary symptoms and the secondary problems (learning disabilities, behaviour problems etc.) which very often develop on the basis of ADHD. The authors of this book, based on their extensive experience and scientific knowledge of developmental and learning disabilities, present the latest research and the most current theories concerning nature, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. They also propose the multi-level approach, which integrates the cognitive-behavioral perspective and the developmental model of child psychopathology.
