heal.abstract | This paper presents the first version of a low-cost and extensible software environment for the man-agement of ship-line drawings, enabling the transformation of, possibly low quality, hardcopy drawings to a 3D CAD model of the hull with controllable fairness and accuracy. The software comprises two components: • Any software package for raster editing and raster-to-vector transformation that supports export to AutoCAD®, and • An AutoCAD plug-in developed by SDL-NTUA and HRS, that undertakes and materializes the whole process of transforming the vector outcome of the above package to a 3D CAD model of the ship hull. Furthermore, the software supports exportation of the hull CAD model to any AutoCAD-based software, as well as any software supporting the IGES standard for data exchange. | en |
