The pictures in television commercials,
magazine advertisements and other forms of advertising
often convey meanings that cannot be expressed well
through words. At first, this paper introduces
advertising as a mean of communication used to present
or promote ideas, goods, and services and how it
exploits the special function of image. In addition, this
paper examines the analysis of the advertising messages
promoted through the advertising campaigns of the
Greek National Tourism Organization from 1991 until
2005.
